摘要
For the purposes of structural design, cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels are typically chosen from tables detailing standardized layups. While this is a quick method, it can lead to inefficient use of the material. In this paper, an economic design optimization is performed for CLT floor panels used in one-way bending systems. Individual lamination sizes and grades are allowed to vary independently therein. A generic cost function is constructed, and genetic algorithms are used to find optimal panel designs. The shear analogy method is used as the structural model. The panels are subjected to stress, deflection, and vibration constraints in accordance with the 2019 edition of the CLT handbook. In a separate section, fire performance is analyzed as well. The results show that significant cost savings of up to 20% can be achieved by substituting such an optimized panel for a standard design.
