Synthesis of Barium Tungstate in Melts of the System (Li2WO4–Na2WO4)eut–Ba(NO3)2(Li,Na,Ba//NO3,WO4)

Abstract: This article contains material on the analysis of the interaction of barium nitrate with lithium and sodium tungstates in eutectic melts (Li2WO4–Na2WO4)eut within the framework of thermodynamics and physicochemical analysis, which showed that the processes associated with the synthesis of barium tungstate, which is in demand in science and practice, are characterized by significant negative Gibbs energy, an important condition for achieving the goal of this work, and can be implemented at relatively low temperatures. The paper also provides material on the development of an optimized method for the synthesis of BaWO4 based on the (Li2WO4–Na2WO4)eut–Ba(NO3)2 system, which is characterized by high productivity and the yield of the target product in the nanocrystalline state. Barium tungstate was synthesized by thermal treatment of a stoichiometric mixture of reagents of a given mass at 600°C (accuracy ±10°C) for 40–50 min, followed by leaching and isolation of barium tungstate. The preparation was identified by the methods of chemical and X-ray analysis, and dispersion was determined by electron microscopy. © 2023, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
