摘要
The dynamic tensile strength of sapphire has been studied under conditions of impact loading in the region of dynamic (Hugoniot) elastic limit (HEL). In the absence of inelastic deformation, the spall strength of sapphire strongly depends on the loading time and exhibits a tendency to decrease with increasing compressive stress in the incident impulse. The development of inelastic deformation leads to the complete loss of material resistance to the tensile straining.
