New equipment in the glass-melting industry

For the first time in Russia the international forum “World of Glass-99 ” was held in Moscow in the exhibition hall of Krasnaya Presnya July 20–23, 1999. The forum was attended by domestic and foreign organizations, enterprises, and companies engaged in architecture and building, production and processing of glass, production of equipment and tooling for the glass industry, and marketing. The fifth meeting of the Sheet Glass Club of the CIS countries took place in Moscow July 22, 1999 under the aegis of the Mosavtosteklo plant. Dozens of reports on the following topics were delivered : — experience in the production of toughened glass on Tamglass lines (Finland); — standardization and certification of structural and technical glass; — new equipment and refractories for the production of sheet glass, etc. Below, a paper of the general director of the “Steklomash ” Orel Plant Yu. M. Shershnev based on his report at the club meeting is presented. The editorial board plans to publish a series of papers devoted to the materials of the forum and the club, including ones on the service of refractories.
