Grundlagen: Der axilläre Lymphknotenstatus bildet als wichtigster prognostischer Faktor nach wie vor die entscheidende Grundlage für die Planung individuell risikoadaptierter Therapiestrategien beim invasiven Mammakarzinom. Exaktes axilläres Staging ist daher für ein erfolgreiches klinisches Management von Patientinnen mit dieser Erkrankung von größter Wichtigkeit.
