摘要
With the publication in 2010 of the German guidelines on renal diseases in adult diabetes mellitus, a milestone in the care of this patient group was achieved. The evaluation of quality and clinical results of these guidelines in daily practice is currently pending. The international guidelines on the evaluation and management of chronic kidney disease as developed by the “kidney disease: improving global outcomes (KDIGO)” initiative in 2012 and supplementary international guidelines significantly influenced the care for these patients with the focus on prognosis, risk stratification, therapeutic goals and interdisciplinary cooperation. The aim of this article is the implementation some important aspects of these guidelines into the current treatment and management of patients with diabetes mellitus and renal disease. © 2015, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
