Hypoxia protects human renal proximal tubular epithelial cells from cyctotoxic immunosuppressant medications and reperfusion injury in a model of kidney preservation

Exposure of HK-2 cells to reperfusion may predispose them to further injury and death by immunosuppressants.This implies that pre-conditioning at the time of retrieval may prevent subsequent injury and thus DGF.
