Internet information on orthopaedic surgery varies significantly in quality. Due to duplication and the prioritisation systems of search engines, the ease of finding sites did not correlate with the quality of the site’s content. However, complete and accurate patient-orientated information is available from professional sites. In the current climate, with informed consent being of profound importance, the internet is a useful medium for both patient and surgeon.
