摘要
The priorities and sources of socioeconomic modernization are discussed with regard to Russia in general and the real sector of the economy in particular. The key areas of modernization are formulated. The modernization features of the production structure are defined for regions with different economic special- ization and diversification levels. The degree of regional differentiation, which is known to define the spatial profile of modernization, is discussed with respect to the main areas of development, i.e., the state and the structure of production facilities in regions; sectoral structure of production, including in industry; and the receptivity of regions to innovation. The dynamics and efficiency of production are analyzed with respect to individual types of economic activities. Given the current level of productivity and competitiveness in Russia, its extractive and services industries are shown to have the highest added value. Groups of industries are sin- gled out that are likely to shape the dynamics of the economy. Ways to create institutional conditions for the modernization of spatial development are discussed. The possible regional implications are analyzed for dif- ferent types of modernization based on stimulating and leveling regional policies. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2013.
