Results are presented for development of gas nanosensors based on metals. Analytical possibilities are evaluated for the nominated devices. In particular, a capacity is demonstrated for determining quite a considerable number of organic and inorganic chemical compounds, and the effect of temperature is shown for sensitive nanosensor elements, and also sensing element coating morphology, geometry, and composition on measurement sensitivity and selectivity, time for establishing readings, reading recovery time to the initial value, and other technical and economic indices. Priority areas are determined for improving the metrological properties of gas nanosensors based on metals. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.
