摘要
Multiphase induction drive is gaining popularity in last decade because of reliability, less harmonics and fault-tolerant capability. In the present work, a five-phase induction motor is modelled from dynamic mathematical equation using MATLAB/Simulink. The switching-table-based DTC with one phase open is simulated to know its fault-tolerant capability and reliability. The faulty machine model is run for full load, 4/5th rated load and half of the rated load, and results are compared with a healthy five-phase induction motor. The results show that the motor becomes unstable for full load; however, it is capable of taking 4/5th of the rated torque of a healthy motor. The transient behaviour during variation of load is also comparable with a healthy five-phase induction motor. © 2019, The Institution of Engineers (India).
