Experimental data on gas-phase hydrogenation of several alkylbenzenes (toluene, ethlylbenzene, o-, m-, p-xylenes, mesitylene) over nickel catalyst are summarized. Rate dependence as a function of the chemical nature of substituent and position in the aromatic ring is discussed. The stereochemical distribution for dialkylbenzene and trialkylbenzene is addressed.
