Magnetic resonance tomography in gastroenterology

Magnetic resonance tomography (MRT) is the newest radiological technique which has achieved acceptance in diagnostic gastroenterology and definitely that with the most rapid and sustained distribution. This is made possible by the development of continuously faster gradient systems and new sequence techniques which can be acquired during cessation of breathing and triggering of the cardiac cycle. As yet three main application fields have been established, imaging of focal hepatic lesions, examination of the cholangiopancreatic system (MRCP) and diagnostics of the intestines. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
