摘要
The nonlinear oscillations of a cylindrical reservoir partially filled with a fluid and subjected to a harmonic horizontal force are studied. The formation of waves on the free liquid surface is analyzed using a nonlinear multimode (twelve wave modes) that describes the combined motion of the reservoir and the fluid under active external forces. The gravity-capillary and dissipative effects are considered as additional factors that affect the nonlinear dynamics of the system. It is shown that the steady state in the classical sense is not achieved, which is confirmed experimentally. The effect of the surface tension and dissipation on the near-resonance oscillations of the system is analyzed © 2017, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
