摘要
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the global economy, livelihoods, and physical and mental well-being. Lockdowns have created various challenges for individuals confined to their homes. This study aimed to investigate how the pandemic affected the physical health of a representative sample of Bangladeshi youth. Primary data was collected through a cross-sectional online survey of 300 youths aged 18 to 35 years who were under strict lockdown. Chi-square analysis was used to examine the relationship between physical health status and various covariates, and a multiple logistic regression model was used to identify factors associated with the risk of physical health problems. Results showed that age, family status, profession, marital status, avoiding physical contact, frequent cleaning and disinfecting habits, the risk of testing positive for COVID-19, impact on livelihood, food, and education were strongly associated with poor physical health outcomes. The study found that 52.3% and 31.7% of participants were severely and moderately affected in terms of physical health, respectively. The authorities should implement timely strategies to mitigate the consequences of future pandemics and reduce physical health issues among young people.
