Best optical filtering for Duobinary transmission

摘要
We show that for optical transmission systems based on duobinary line-coding, in general the optimum receiver is not based on the optical filter matched to transmitted pulse-shape. In general, the receiver optical filter must be optimized for each transmitted pulse within the ISI conditions imposed by the duobinary line-coding. In order to achieve such a result, we have derived the expression of the parameter K to be maximized with the purpose to decide the optimal filter for each pulse-shape.
