The matching process at the Finnish labor market

This article summarizes the key findings of the thesis "Empirical Studies on Labor Market Matching" and presents the background of the research field and its problems. The results indicate that the matching process at the Finnish labor market has become increasingly complicated after the crisis in the early 90's and that foremost long-term unemployed are outside the traditional matching. Occupational differences in matching are also significant and create complications for optimal economic policy. The thesis also studies whether matching empirically seen is random, as theory suggests, or not, and it shows that it is not random.
