摘要
This paper presents a scheme for dynamic Quality of Service (QoS) negotiation for multimedia applications at intermediate nodes. The major goal of dynamic negotiation (or renegotiation) is to explore the dynamic behavior of multimedia connections to maximize resource utilization, and as a consequence, accommodate a greater number of connections. A minimum QoS for each connection is used as the mechanism for reserving resources at intermediate nodes. This mechanism gives an implicit higher priority to renegotiation requests over new connection requests. A simulation of the proposed model is presented and its results show that it is possible to increase the number of active connections, and to keep renegotiation rejections to a very low level.
