Performace-oriented modeling for UML-RT based system design

摘要
This paper presents an approach to performance-oriented modelling based on the system design with UML for real-time. UML model-driven development is being used increasingly for the design of embedded real- time systems. However, validation of a UML model-based system at design level for QoS attributes like response time is still one of the difficult issues to be addressed in model-driven development. An approach is introduced in this paper to provide a performance-oriented modelling in UML, which covers a workload-oriented view from transactions and a resource-oriented view from UML for real-time architecture. The model is captured from a UML-based system design and quantified with tagged values for the required properties, by which a performance (schedulability) analysis method is given to the model-based system design and carried out at a high level of UML-based abstraction. The approach is illustrated with an investigation of a sample system model.
