A modified version of the integral Fan-Brooks model has been used to calculate the horizontal penetration of inclined thermal buoyant water jets, The classical densimetric Froude number F-o is subsituted by a Froude number F-a based on the thermal expansion coefficient of water. Using the above model, a new equation is derived which can predict the horizontal penetration of the thermal jet at a given Froude number F-a and discharge angle. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
