摘要：
The problem of reducing the stencil of the local discontinuous Galerkin method applied to second-order differential operator is discussed. Heuristic algorithms to minimize the total number of non-zero blocks of the reduced stiffness matrix are presented and tested on a wide variety of unstructured and Structured grids in 2D and 3D.
