Prediction of turbulent buoyant flow using an RNG k-ε model

Numerical predictions were carried out for turbulent natural convection in two tall air cavities. The standard and RNG k-epsilon turbulence models were used for the predictions. The predicted results were compared whit experimental data from the literature, and good agreement between prediction and measurement was obtained. Improved prediction was achieved using the RNG k-epsilon model in comparison with the standard k-epsilon model. The principal parameters for the improvement were investigated.
