Application of Web Services in signal, test & measurement system

In order to solve the problems exist in network-based measuring system such as barriers of cross-platform and cross-language communications, no way to pass through firewall, difficult in developing, debugging and maintaining, Web Services can be used to construct network-based measuring system. The function modules of system are published using Web Services. The remote user can connect with the provider of Web Services by specific mechanism and integrate Web Services into local applications. Web Services can be used in IMS(Intelligent Maintenance System), expert diagnosis and analysis system, portable test & measurement system. In this paper a filter design Web Service is given to describe Web Services application including building, registering and referring etc. The filter design M file is converted to COM component which is used in filter design Web Service with COM Builder of Matlab. The user can design filter after the Web Service is integrated in local system.
