摘要
The splashing threshold of a single drop impinging onto a wetted surface has been systematically studied to quantitatively classify the impact phenomena under different film thicknesses. A newly designed and highly repeatable film generator has been used for producing thin films with a well-defined thickness. The critical splash level, defined as the minimum energy level to generate the upward satellite droplets from the crown-like liquid filament after impact, was chosen as the classification criterion. The critical splash level has been found riot to be a monotonically increasing function of the film thickness, which was however commonly expected in the literature.
