Film roll wrapping in a US fine paper mill: A case history

Reduced operating and capital costs, as well as superior protection, make film wrapping of paper rolls an attractive alternative to traditional wrapping methods. This paper discusses in detail the operating experience, packaging material utilization, maintenance, and customer response issues relating to the use of film in the packaging of paper rolls. The type of wrap discussed is the combination method of wrapping wherein low-density polyethylene is used to cover roll circumference, while cut-to-measure corrugated board headers are used to protect rolls ends.
