Analysis of selected coating parameters for the optimization of properties of flame sprayed coatings

摘要
The technology of thermal spraying has proven as an indispensable tool for surface coatings within the last years. This development results from the wide variety of possible applications. However, to master the process and to obtain the desired layer properties the effects of all coating parameters most be known. The following discussion indicates that methods of statistical trial planning and evaluation are useful to determine process parameters of thermal spraying. They allow an objective judgement of the coating process. Yet, the skilled user must evaluate the final results, since not the whole practical knowledge and prior experiences can be captured in the mathematical modelling.
