摘要
This paper deals with a research project dealing with transmission of video over Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) mobile channels. The deployment of a reliable and efficient video communication service over TETRA mobile channels faces two major constraints: the limited bandwidth available of TETRA mobile channels and the high channel error rates. For these reasons, the effective transmission of video over TETRA mobile channels requires not only the use of efficient compression techniques capable of reducing the bandwidth demand, but also the use of error-resilient video coding. The ISO MPEG-4 video compression standard is the right choice to fulfill the two requirements and is therefore the subject of study in this paper. This paper presents a study of MPEG-4 encoded video transmission over TETRA mobile channels and performance of various error, resilient tools in MPEG-4 video codec has been evaluated and will be presented in this paper.
