摘要
Teaching, research and extension are the inseparable basis of higher education. The project "Rosa dos Ventos" contemplated this tripod when addressing health education with residents of the Quilombola Community (CQ) Barra da Aroeira, Brazil, and verifying their vulnerability to cervical cancer (CCU) and prostate cancer (CP). It was possible to identify the influence of social determinants in the health-disease process of CQ, while CQ was able to enjoy health care and information actions, since the local health unit is precarious. Although no cases of CCU and CP were identified, predisposing factors were detected: in women, pre-neoplastic changes, early onset of sexual activity, large multiparous women and family history of cancer; in men: advanced age, low levels of education and lack of physical activity. For the first time, a paper addresses the theme of cancer in CQ's.
