摘要
In this work, a bio-composite material of jute fiber (JF) and Fe2O3 nanoparticles is synthesized by the hydrothermal process and used for As(V) removal. A green pathway method has been adopted, where the cellulose matrix of JF combined with Fe2O3 nanopartides to form an efficient hybrid adsorbent of JF@Fe2O3 nanocomposite. The JF@Fe2O3 nanocomposite is characterized by analytical instrumental technique likes XRD, FTIR, SEM, FESEM, TEM, HRTEM, Zeta potential, BET and VSM study. Batch adsorption study has been conducted to know the adsorption capacity of the nanocomposite material. The JF@Fe2O3 nanocomposite shows a maximum removal of As(V) at pH 3. The maximum adsorption capacity is found to be 48.06 mg/g from Langmuir isotherm model. Adsorption kinetic of the process follows the pseudo-second order kinetics. The mechanism of As(V) adsorption on the material involves two types of interaction: (I) electrostatic attraction and (II) ligand exchange process. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
