A novel approach to generate a static torque in the range from 1 mN.m to 1N.m

摘要
Torque sensors with a small measurement range up to 1 N.m are part of various precision devices just like robots or tools for medical surgeries and devices for the nanofabrication. The torque transducers frequently need a calibration for which traceability need to be secured. According to legal mandate, the national metrological institutes have the task to realize the torque units and to enable the required traceability. This article shows how to generate static torque in the range from 1 mN.m to 1 N.m according to the new principle. The aim of the current work was to implement this new idea of torque generation to create a new and more precise torque standard calibration device. The performance of the new method was compared with the generation of static torque according to the state of the art (PTB torque standard calibration device).
