ISO 9001 registration in the software industry: The perspectives of auditors

The purpose of the study is to identify the elements of the ISO 9001 standards that are most critical to a successful registration effort. A national survey was conducted to obtain data from ISO 9001 RAB accredited auditors experienced in auditing software development firms. Behaviors and perceptions of auditors who conduct ISO 9001 audits in software firms were investigated. This information should enable software development firms that are considering ISO 9001 registration to allocate resources more effectively to their registration efforts by providing them with an understanding of auditors' expectations.
