Modeling and control method study of magnetostrictive micropositioner and its application

摘要
The design and implementation of a micropositioner system based on GMA (giant magnetostrictive actuator) are present. Dynamic modeling and transfer function of the micropositioner are built up. The digital controller for milling a cutting workpiece with noncircular cross section is also discussed. Experiment and computer simulation show that VSC (variable structure control) method has more advantage than the PID control method for the micropositioner. Experiment data state that 2 mum precision in noncircular cutting could be attained by using the micropositioner to manipulate the tool position. Rapid response, accurate position and strong force make the magnetostrictive micropositioner would have prospective applications in noncircular machining fields.
