Circularly Polarized Planar Slot Array Antenna at Ku Band

This paper introduces the design of a circularly polarized planar slot array antenna at Ku band, and the simulated results are proposed. 2x2 cavity slot sub-array is adopted as the basic unit, where the circular polarization is achieved by the loading open-ended waveguide with two trimmed diagonal corners. Furthermore, full corporate waveguide feed network is constituted for the operation in the required band. For the 8x8 array demonstrator, the VSWR in the band is less than 1.7, with the axial ratio within 2.2 dB. The realized gain of the proposed array is higher than 27 dB, suitable for high gain application.
