摘要
Within the alternative fuels for vehicular use, it can be mentioned: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (GNC), alcohol, electricity, hydrogen. At the moment the most developed ones, technological and commercially, are the gaseous fuels: LPG and CNG. The LPG with more than eight millions vehicles in the world and the CNG with about 2 millions. The oil crisis during the 70's, renewed the interest for alternative fuels and many countries have implemented governmental programs to promote their use. This work describes the situation of the LPG production in the region, its advantages as alternative fuel for vehicular use and the available technology at the present time.
