Detection of Electric and Magnetic Dipole Moments Using a Three Loop Antenna System

Three Loop Antenna Systems (TLASs) enable the measurement of total electromagnetic energy density, including simultaneous electric and magnetic field vectors, and electric and magnetic dipole moments. The small electrical size of the loops makes their characterization and radiative testing very difficult. Here, we investigate the radiative performance of a TLAS through simulations. We compare the system's numerically measured dipole moment against theory for centrally located electric and magnetic dipole moments, and show that the system's field component discrimination is greater than 20dB.
