摘要
Virtually imaged phased array (VIPA) is typically consists of a thin plate of glass coated with high reflection film coated on both sides. The effects of plate defects on virtually imaged phased array are investigated in this article. We mainly analyze the parallelism and surface roughness of the glass plate by simulation. A 2D disperser is established by a virtually imaged phased array and a diffraction grating. Results show that the degree of plate parallelism will affect the spot size of the beam output, wavelength of the maximum power and 3-dB bandwidth, and the surface roughness will lead to scattering and loss. The simulation results are validated by experiment.
