摘要
This work explores how the structure, composition, and geometry of organic thin films impact the tunneling of electrons from an electrode to a redox species in solution. The impact of the film's thickness on the electronic coupling strength and the transition between weak and strong coupling is discussed first. The influence of film composition is explored by comparing the electron transfer rates through alkane and ether linked redox. couples. The last section of the manuscript describes the impact of an organic chain's tilt angle on the decay length for the electron transfer rate constant.
