With the development of the globalization, Chinese culture goes abroad to the world. Numerous researches have explored the translation of A Dream of Red Mansions about comparisons and analysis in different perspectives, but researches for deep exploration of the translation strategies of culture-load words are still relatively rare. This paper firstly analyzes some examples from Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang' s version adopts foreignization as the dominant strategy; while David Hawkes' version, on the contrary, employs the domestication as the dominant strategy. However, there are some exceptions in two English versions, it is obvious that domestication and foreignization mutually penetrate and supplement together in some cases. Then, it is concluded that, under the guidance of certain factors, the translator had better use a variety of translation methods flexibly to achieve the best effect of translation with a main strategy.
