Synthesis and reactions of novel spiro compounds containing nitrogen

Equimolar quantities of benzimidic acid methyl ester, glycinc ethyl ester and dibenzalacetone on heating in pyridine yielded 3,6,10-triaryl-2,4-diazaspiro [4,5] deca-2-en-5,8-diones (II). II were then condensed with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine to give the corresponding 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones (IV). If two equivalents of benzimidic acid methyl ester and glycine ester were heated with one equivalent of dibenzalacetone the product obtained was 3,6,10-triaryl-8-(5'-oxo-2'-aryl-1'-3'-diazacyclopenta-2'-en-4'-ylidene)-2,4-diazaspiro [4,5] deca-2-en-5-ones (III).
