Synthesis and infrared spectral studies of some lanthanide complexes with leucine

摘要
Fourteen complexes of lanthanide nitrates and acetates with leucine have been isolated ill solid state. These complexes have the general formula [Ln (Leu)(4) (X)(3)], [Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy and Y, Leu = leucine and X = nitrate or acetate ion]. Infrared spectral studies of these complexes reveal that leucine acts as a neutral bidentate ligand towards all the lanthanide ions in presence of nitrate or acetate ions utilizing amino nitrogen and carboxyl oxygen for bonding. In these complexes both nitrate and acetate ions act as unidentate ligands by way of bonding through one of the oxygen atoms of nitrate or acetate ion.
