摘要
This study focus on the physical characterization of short roselle fibre polymer composites. Short roselle fibre composites with 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% fibre content by weight were produced using the hand layup technique. Composite's physical properties like density, void content and water uptake capacity were obtained as per ASTM standards. The void content of the composites ranges from 1.28 to 6.71%, which is quite low for short and randomly oriented composites. The saturation in water uptake was observed after 7 to 8 days of water immersion. The water uptake capacity of the roselle fibre composites increases with an increase in fibre content. It indicates the composites with the lower fibre content yield a higher resistance to water absorption.(c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
