Powder neutron diffraction on TbPdIn and DyPdIn

摘要
We present results of powder neutron diffraction study of magnetic structures in TbPdIn and DyPdIn intermetallic compounds crystallizing in the hexagonal ZrNiAl-type structure. TbPdIn exhibit magnetic ordering below 66 K with a non-collinear k = (0,0,0) magnetic structure and Tb moments within the basal plane. Additionally, several small relections which appear in the ordered state can be indexed by at least three different propagation vectors: (1/4,1/4,1/4), (1/2,0,1/4) and (1/4,0,1/4) Or (1/2,0,1/2). Two different magnetic phases are observed in DyPdIn. In the high temperature one, 15 K < T < 31 K, the Dy magnetic moments order ferromagnetically along the c-axis. Below 15 K basal-plane components of Dy moments order antiferromagnetically with the propagation vector k = (1/2,0,1/2).
