摘要
This paper presents an adaptive call admission control (CAC) policy for the radio links of a wireless ATM network. It is adaptive in the sense that it "learns" the movement patterns of users and builds a database of probabilities characterizing the likely future movement of new callers. These probabilities are used to extend the effective bandwidth [4] CAC approach for ATM to the wireless environment by specifying how much capacity must be reserved at various base stations in order to accept a new call. A hybrid evaluation tool using simulation and queueing analysis is used to measure the algorithm's performance in a macrocellular environment. The results show that the approach achieves target quality-of-service (QoS) performance and maintains low call dropping probabilities.
