Simulation analysis of teletraffic variables in DCA cellular networks

摘要
This paper deals with the characterization, by means of their statistical distributions, of several random variables related to cellular mobile telephony in a network that uses Dynamic Channel Allocation (DCA). In order to achieve this characterization, a simulation tool has been developed. The simulator implements the performance of a UMTS network as an example of DCA network, taking into account issues such as power control and admission control. The simulator provides data about channel holding time, time between two consecutive handoffs (handoff traffic characterization) and handoff duration, along with the information on the quality of service about the simulated environment. The effects of two different user mobility patterns have been analyzed.
