Gasification by steam and carbon dioxide can contribute slightly to carbon burnout under boiler conditions. However, when the carbon in ash is considered, the effect is significant. Gasification by both H2O and CO2 is in Regime II when burning pf. The influence of these reactions is greater with larger particles, which would still be unburned when the concentrations of H2O and CO2 rise.
