摘要
Aluminum-based composite reinforced was synthesized with submicron TiB 2 and TiC particulates and their low cycle fatigue behavior was analyzed. The Al-based metallic matrix composites (MMC) exhibited superior room-temperature fatigue life and endurance limit compared to their respective unreinforced materials under stress-controlled condition. It was demonstrated that reactive hot pressing is a potential technique to synthesize in-situ TiB2/Al composite with novel characteristics. The low cycle fatigue (LCF) life behavior of the composite was well described by the Coffin-Manson equation.
