摘要
Industrial by-products are getting attraction now-a-days because of its siliceous and alumina properties which will enhance the process of geopolymerisation during alkali activation. This will be two way benefits to the environment, one the solid waste can be managed effectively and in the other way the use of cement can be controlled. Based on this context solid wastes like fly ash, Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS), metakolin and silica fume have been tried as base material for geopolymer concrete in many studies. To enhance the geopolymerisation researchers have tried many ways like trying out different alkaline activators and ratios, base materials/alkaline ratios and changing methods of curing. The investigators tired out various degree of temperature curing almost accepted with 100 degrees C with different exposure time. But still the investigation is in progress for elevated temperature curing and also for residual strength characteristics due high temperature stress. This study initiated for determining the effect of GGBS based geopolymer concrete on the physical and mechanical properties during the elevated temperatures of 100, 200, 400, 600 and 800 degrees C with 1 to 6 h exposed curing temperature and compared with cement concrete. It was resulted that all the residual mechanical properties were better than cement concrete. Further up to 400 degrees C residual compressive stress is better than cement concrete ambient curing compressive stress.
