摘要
Complementary studies are knowledge areas that have the purpose of broadening the education of undergraduate engineering students. During the past decade, major shifts have occurred in the accreditation norms and requirements of engineering programs, including an increased emphasis in the study program on those knowledge areas that have the effect of widening the educational base. This paper outlines the importance and development of complementary studies at the University of Pretoria in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa.
