Constructing multiuser shared 3D distributed virtual environment

摘要
Distributed Virtual Environment (DVE) is a promising technology which provides people a 3D shared virtual world over the networks, where participants can interact with each other more naturally. This paper focuses on the methodological approach involved in the development, of a prototype DVE system. Client-server architecture is employed to realize network connections between the participants of a shared virtual world. Environment editor is implemented for forming a dynamic and flexible virtual environment according to the multiple participants' needs. Synthesized virtual human is developed as the visual avatar for representing multiple users of DVE system. Finally, a prototype DVE system has been developed for multiple users' sharing and interactive communication.
