摘要
In this paper, in order to improve performance efficiency of a full-vectorial finite element method (FV-FEM) for analysis of circularly symmetric waveguides, a novel FV-FEM scheme combined with a propagation operator technique is proposed. A cylindrical coordinate system we employed here requires less computational time and resources for 3-D analysis of circularly symmetric photonic devices. A boundary condition which is necessary for terminating the computational domain of FV-FEM are modified to allow construction of scattering operators. It can analyze arbitrary geometries including structural dinscontinuities along the propagation direction. We show that our approach can greatly improve analysis efficiency of large-scale waveguides by multi-stage connection of the scattering operators.
